  • It could be due to several factors:1.Root bound plant;2.Too much sand or drainage-improving materials;3.Incorrect insertion of the meter;4.Faulty soil moisture meter;5.Hydrophobic soil;6.Using too little water.

  • Due to factors like soil composition, the way you water, pot shape, plant root distribution, causing some areas to retain more moisture than others, especially if the pot is not evenly watered or if the soil has uneven drainage properties.

  • In order to get accurate result, aim for a firm,but not overly tight or loose contact with the soil. And also try to avoid forceful pushing, as this can damage the roots or the meter.

  • Just like people, every plant has different watering preference.Rather than setting a strict water schedule, it’s better to learn your plant care guide and pay attention to the optimal moisture level. Then you can adjust your watering cycles.

  • Too much moisture in the soil reduces the amount of oxygen and damage the roots, making it more difficult to absorb water and lead to death. Too little water causes the plant to not go through photosynthesis, damaging the cells and tissues of it.

These work just fine. I compare them to my old faithful normal moisture meter and they are always about the same range of moisture. But I bought these with a specific purpose- a moisture meter I could leave in the pot all the time to periodically check my difficult plants. I quickly learned they are highly inaccurate if you dont remove and clean them after each use. Which means these are just equal to the cheap moisture meter I already have. So wasted money in my opinion.
