For context, I suffer from Raynaud's syndrome. So I just got back from a long dog walk. -8deg C, 50km wind so a windchill of -20. Most of the walk was in the woods so majority of the wind was blocked most of the time. I wore my Columbia suede boots, with the insoles removed and replaced with both felt and lambswool insoles. I wore my usual fleece lined wind resistant pant. I thought at first I might be a bit cold, but I actually was very warm-a rare event for me in winter. I can only attribute this to the feet being warm. My heels will often get cold before any other part of my foot. The heating along the length of the foot and over the front was a critical feature. I had the socks set to medium, I may have even been good on low. I had them on for about 3 hours and that dropped the battery from 4 to 2 bars. I don't not know yet how long it will take to drop another bar.I ordered XL and my feet are 25cm long. I have very sloped toes and I have excess toe room width wise. I also have a bit of excess length but not much. The sizing chart is conservative and ignore the shoe size recommendations. My calf measures 17cm at its widest, where the battery sits, at the top of the sock. I am definitely at the limit of the sock circumference at the calf. The battery makes the fit even tighter. The battery sat at the top of my boots, not above, but bc of the boot design I could still wear them.

These sock are comfortable and warm even without the battery. The battery sits high up on the sock and I didn’t even notice it when wearing the sock. Having the option of different heat options is a bonus. The batteries are charged with a usb c cable which is included. I can now comfortably stay outside in cold weather longer doing wildlife photography.
