Install A New Battery:
1, You need to turn off your laptop and disconnect the power.
2, Disconnect the connection between the old battery and the motherboard to avoid unnecessary damage caused by disassembling the battery. Then unscrew the old battery screws one by one and carefully save each screw.
3, Remove the old battery, carefully install the new battery on the battery case, screw in the screw, and connect the wiring of the new battery.

Q: Why my computer didn't recognize this battery or I install this battery and it doesn't seem to work?
A: The reason is residual power stored in the laptop components that was preventing the battery from working properly. Please disconnecting the old battery, and holding down the power button for 20 seconds, then connect the new battery. The hardware worked beautifully. Microsoft is now in the habit of overriding manufacturers software and I cannot test the battery because MSI software gets disabled as soon as I start. At least now I don't get pop-ups complaing that my battery isn't charging.

I bought the ZTHY BTY-L77 Laptop Battery on June 10th 2023. I followed a tutorial online to install it and it was quite straigtforward. The battery charged to 100% and my MSI GT72 Dominator G 6QD laptop was back in full shape.It is now August 23rd at the time of this review, so a little over 2 months later, the battery is now completely dead, and won't charge. I tried multiple outlets, I even ordered a different battery charger to test. The charger has current, but the battery does not charge.I was happy at first because it was easy to install, but I was expecting at least a year of battery.I'm really disappointed.

Bought this battery a while ago. It worked, but it's clear that battery life is already getting shorter, after only about a year of being installed in my laptop.

Bought a BTY-L77. Exact replacement for my large 6 year old MSI GT72. Was a bit of an ordeal to get to in the case, but not the batteries fault. Exact drop in and included new double sided tape. Would buy again if I need to but I hope I don't.

It was a struggle to change the battery in MSI GT72 2QE Dominator pro as the battery was installed deep inside two covers of the laptop. The battery installed perfectly and is giving me 5-6 hours of runtime with discrete graphics and around 3 hours with nvidia gtx graphics turned on

It worked ok for a couple days after I installed, and calibrated it. However, it soon stopped holding a charge, and began shutting down without warning when the battery still showed over 40% capacity. While using my WT-72 one day, I heard a loud POP, the laptop shut down, and I immediately smelled burning wires. When I opened it up (major disassembly is required in order to change the battery on these models), I saw that the connector was melted at one of the black pins (see photos). As far as I know at the moment, I got lucky, because I don't see any obvious damage to my laptop. Time will tell. I DO NOT recommend this battery.

Battery worked as it should for an MSI GT72 2qd Dominator, the sticker being on the other side of the battery causes some confusion, making it seem that the connection should be on the other side, but it's easy enough to figure out.

the ZTHY BTY-L77 replacement battery was an exact match for the original battery in my MSI GT72-2QD Dominator laptop. The disassembly / reassembly process is a pain, but doable. Be sure to search the internet for instructions to make it much easier. I found a good guide on ifixit.com that was written for the GT72-2QE and it was an exact match for what I needed to do. I ran the MSI battery calibrator software right after install and it completed correctly. The old battery hasn't been able to complete the MSI battery calibration for the last year or so. I've been running full-screen YouTube videos for about an hour or so and it is showing my battery at 51% and that is with Windows 10 is set to high-power mode. A far cry from the 5 minutes I was getting on my old battery!

I will say starting off this replacement is what I would consider an above average job for those of you who are not familiar with disassembling a bottom case of a laptop. This battery here has so far proven to perform better then the oem battery with no issues yet after owning it for a few months. I would recommend this as a battery replacement for any of the MSI GT72 series.
