I did some research and got these for relatives for clearing trail - they're incredibly sharp and lightweight and worked well. I got another pair for someone else and they said they were able to get through all their pruning in one go, they normally get tired and have to do it in a couple different gos.Great blades, and the rest of the construction seems solid for the lightness.

I was worried that these might be too small for serious pruning, but multiple reviews suggested otherwise. In the end, I bought both very large (Corona loppers), and this tool, ending up with the perfect combo. Add a good hand pruner and a small limb saw, and you’ll be set for anything short of a major wind incident. I love the weight and maneuverability of these pruners, as you can reach into thickets and make precise cuts. As to longevity, we’ll see, but my experience has been “that if you take care of your tools, they will take care of you.”

Replacing my small Fiskars lopper with this. I used my Fiskars for several years and it served me well, but over time the blades became dull and nicked. This Anvil lopper has a design that makes it easier to prune small branches, and the blade is a harder steel. I can almost use this to replace both my small and large loppers, making it an ‘all in one’ tool for pruning.I have a ton of shrubs and trees in my yard, and do all the landscaping myself so the better the tool, the easier it is to keep up with a large amount of yard work.… This one’s a keeper

I have a lot of trees to trim and cut back on our property. I've gone through many long-handled loppers trying to cut limbs that were perhaps too thick or dead limbs. Both are hard on loppers.This is where the anvil type lopper will be useful - especially for cutting the dead limbs. When using a bypass pruner, I have found that I have to twist as I am cutting to more-or-less break the limb instead of cutting it cleanly. This is precisely why you need an anvil pruner. As they wrote, on one side you have a metal chopping block and the other side is the blade. The dead branch will end up being slightly crushed on one side, but the limb will be cut. When you want a clean cut and want to minimize damage to the live limb, then use a good pair of bypass loppers or shears.So, great tool, but use the right tool for the right job!

This lopper is a bit strange, as it has a a plastic insert.. I guess to help grip the limp? (Pictured)I'm just not convinced this will hold up... though in my experience Japan makes some very high quality tools.We will have to see. Otherwise I think it is made very well, just smaller than I would have liked.

This seems like a very well built, nicely crafted lopper and has a very sharp edge on the blade. I like that it has serrations on the opposing side of the blade which helps grip the branch being cut and holds it in place during the cut. I love this tool. It feels good in the hands, operates nicely and I expect it to hold up very well over the coming years. I just wish it had a longer handle to reach into those thick mess of thickets I have.

I guess I could have read the 18" size, but it did not register. This is not the fault maker. These trimmers are great if you don't need a lot of leverage. I really like them, but sometimes I need a longer trimmer.
