Unlike lead or other common fill material, steel shot inside the head of the dead blow hammer flows smoothly without sticking or clumping and won't degrade over time. The all-steel construction is jacketed with a thick, hot cast polyurethane that's highly resistant to chipping, cracking, and tearing, but soft enough to avoid marring delicate work surfaces.

It’s a dead blow. Tekton has great customer service and warranty.

I've always enjoyed Tekton tools since I was introduced to them about 10 years ago. I was really impressed with their quality, and their warranty policy is tough to beat. Since then, I've replaced many of my hand tools with Tekton products, but this is the first hammer I've bought from them and the first dead blow hammer I've owned. I've been using this hammer mostly in woodworking projects. At 21 oz, its pretty light and the dead blow attribute allows me to tap project pieces together without damaging the wood. I did notice that the handle can be a little slick if my hands are wet, but taping the handle, like a baseball bat or hockey stick, cures the slickness. Overall, I really like this hammer and it has been a great addition to my tool collection. I can now get the other sizes with confidence.

This look’s to be sturdy but for the price ($62) I think I will stick with buying the 3 piece set from princess auto at around $20. Plus you you can’t beat they’re warranty.

I use mine for woodworking. They give the project that extra push when assembling. No marks or scars from the rubber either. Good dead blows.

Solid build, tough and made in the USA - however, the grip is a little slippery in my opinion but some grip tape and it works perfect in my greasy hands…

Material is extremely slick, so be careful swinging it if your hands are oily. Looks similar to Mac brand

I make and cut clear ice as a hobby and I needed a hammer that would let me apply force to various ice-cold metal tools without shattering the metal and getting me hurt. Basically I needed a dead blow hammer. This dead blow hammer delivers a soft blow without metal-on-metal collisions that can be so dangerous. The grip is excellent, which is important for wet hands. I'm very happy with this tool.
