The bottom of this device has both a flash shoe track, so that it can be inserted in other flash shoes, and a 1/4"-20 threaded tripod socket, so that it could be placed upon a tripod, table top tripod, clamp or any other device with a 1/4"-20 threaded screw.

I purchased this in hope that it would be more durable than some generic versions I've purchased in the past. Unfortunately it's about the same build quality as items I've purchased at 1/2 the price. The only advantage is that the 1/4 x 20 thread hole seems a bit nicer.

I got this to add a flash to my Yashica Mat medium format film camera and it works as designed. I've yet to develop the film test shots though, but it does trigger the flash correctly.
