  • BIODEGRADABLE HEAVY-DUTY PAPER: Crafted from 100% natural, unbleached kraft paper, this thickened gardening layer offers durable yet fully biodegradable soil protection. The reinforced cellulose fibers create a robust barrier against wind and debris during garden bed preparation, while maintaining breathability for natural soil respiration. We are running a farm and starting to do market row gardening. We are not keen on the idea of doing landscape fabric that is made of plastic - we don't want it in the garden. I really like both the idea of this product as well as the size and heft of it. Its similar to craft paper you might get for arts and craft, but seems a bit heavier weight. I plan to use this both in the bottom of raised beds (to ensure no weeds come up on shallow beds) as well as in ground beds. The only thing missing is that it does not indicate the source of the materials. In order to qualify for use on in organic farming, it has to be made from recycled paper. The fact that it doesn't say leads me to believe that it probably isn't. Thus why I deducted a star.We are not certified organic and only selling to friends currently, so its not an issue. But for some it could be. I think that they should consider a) making sure the source is recycled and b) making sure its properly labeled as such to allow organic farmers to properly document it.

This weed barrier is very convenient, easy to cut and use and I love that it is biodegradable as opposed to a lot of the landscape fabrics out there. Simply cut it to fit the area you need to cover then cover with a layer of soil or mulch to block new weed seeds from germinating.

I purchased this to keep weeds out of my garden. I was disapointed at how easy it would tear. I put 6 inch soil staple in to keep it down. Ripped around those also. I think it will help, however, takes some ongoing maintenance to keep up. Better off just picking weeds.

I am going to be working on my garden soon and needs supplies. This paper came onto my Amazon Vine feed so I ordered it.Note: I have been invited by Amazon to take part in the Amazon Vine program & I take that very seriously.I order products I am interested in, try them out and give my honest review on that product.I am not paid in any way by Amazon or the sellers for my reviews.Since I am an Amazon customer as well, I provide as much detail as possible for other customers in order to help make an informed decision on the products. I do not recommend products I myself wouldn't use.I actually need this paper for 3 reasons.I have new galvanized metal raised garden beds that need to be filled. I will line the bottom with cardboard then I'll put a layer or two of this paper, my soil and all the goodies I add to the soil then I'll put a layer of this paper on top and plant when the time comes.I'll also use it as a weed barrier for other beds.I am also going to shred some of it in my shredder so I can add it to my worm composter as well as my worm breeding bin. This paper cuts very easily and it's easy to work with.I prefer to use paper rather than plastic in my garden. My garden is 100% organic and I tend to not use anything that can disrupt my organic growing. From the soil, to the manure, to compost and other additives. Even my fertilizer and pest control is organic.I am so careful, I don't allow any type of chemicals used on my property, especially around the garden area.I can't say the same for my neighbor who sadly single handedly destroys any type of bugs in the neighborhood, including beneficial bugs such as butterflies & bees & other living beings. I'll spare the details.I like the fact that this paper has several different uses.I am in the middle of painting boards so I can do a board and baton feature wall in my entryway on the cheap.I have limited space on where I can paint them.I tool some of this paper and I covered my patio table with it and that's where I'm painting.I have no problem with paint drips going through the paper. I'm sure if I spilled the paint it would seep through but paint drops are no problem.I haven't done research yet but I'm sure I can use this paper at the bottom of cages too.I have 2 parrots, 1 rabbit and wildlife that I give critical care to before bringing them to the local rehabber. Needless to say, I have many different uses for this paper.I am very pleased and can't wait to get my garden set up.Definitely recommend.

This roll of biodegradable craft-style paper just arrived. We switched our yard from needy lawn to xeriscape design. We are getting some seasonal grasses/weeds popping up around the borders of the planting beds where we've laid down mulch over cardboard to suppress weeds. I think this style of paper will be easy to cut and place, especially on curved edges. We can neaten up the underlayment, then re-do the mulch and have a cleaner result for our garden.I like that it was manufactured to be good for the soil. Someday we may change the design of the planting beds, so using this paper offers us flexibility of options. If it's not effective at weed suppression I will definitely update my review in the future.
