Got mine in yesterday, hooked it up to Smartthings, and I was off to the races! To cover some things that I've seen previously on here that had me concerned.1. You can't hear it from outside of your house.- Maybe some people are living in mansions? But I started with 1, and placed it in the front room of my home. I walked outside, and set off the alarm. I can easily hear it from the front yard, as well as I can hear it from the street (maybe 35 ft from the house). Now if I cross the street, it still can be heard, but doesn't feel AS ALARMING. Now that I'm keeping it, I've ordered one for the back of the house, as well as one for the garage (attached). When I tested it in the garage due to the garage door being metal. This seemed significantly louder when across the street. Recommendation being, PLACEMENT, PLACEMENT, PLACEMENT. One in the front of the house, one in the back, and one in an area as a garage and I will say that I will sleep safely at night, and feel safe while away. The level of beep is just around that of a smoke detector.2. The lights don't do anything.- They don't! I don't know what I was hoping for, strobe maybe? Pepper spray? Taser? STEP IT UP! But on a serious note, it just turns on a tiny LED light. Nothing too exciting, and I would not rely on this. It would be nice if it would have strobe, but I will survive.3. What if someone just pulls them out of the wall?- So I'm not sure how I missed this, but they do have a battery in them. While doing my testing, I couldn't turn it off (user error) so I just unplugged it! Nope, still ringing in my hand which made me feel better about it as well.I've already ordered more and would recommend these.

I put this in my server room linked to a to alert me if it gets too hot in there. I've had it in service about a month now and it has gone off on 3 separate days but unfortunately it was never triggered any of those times. Worse yet when it goes off it tends to go off multiple times. My current theory is near by lightning is setting it off as these freak outs seem to happen when there are storms in the area. The battery back up seems to last a long time as it just went off again 9 hours after I ripped it from the wall. There is no access to the battery so all can do is hit the reset button every time it goes off. While not loud enough to alert the neighbors, I found it was plenty loud enough to wake me up 2 rooms away through a closed door. About as loud as a smoke detector. It is now setting in the back of my car waiting for the battery to discharge or the storms to pass.

I am using this with InControl Home Automation software running on a windows computer and an Aeon Labs USB Z-wave (series 2) controller. The software allows you to turn the siren on and off as well as control the volume and type of sound (3 volume levels and 5 sound types). In order to use this functionality it required the use of scripts to send the commands to the siren. Don't expect to find this information in the accompanying manual. I had to find this information online. Your controller software may or may not provide that level of access. By default it just outputs a plenty-loud (easily heard anywhere in my 2600 sq ft home), high-pitch continuous tone. All in all, this is a nice-looking and functionally-loud siren. I use it in combination with motion detectors to alert me of movement inside and around the parameter of my home. I am able to tell where the motion was triggered by using different sounds for different triggers. This siren probably isn't loud enough to alert your neighbors, but it is definitely loud enough to startle you or someone who enters your home uninvited.

This little guy is tiny and inconspicuous, but holy crap is he loud! I upgraded my Fortrez siren that always seemed to lose its connection SmartThings with this one. Setup was easy and it started working immediately. Thankfully it's rarely set up, but success has been 100% Scares the crap out of my 23lb dog, so I'm sure it'll do the job with a thief as well...or at least let the neighbors know something is up.I also have my ST system set so that any time the alarm goes off, it announces a warning through Sonos, texts me, pushes an alert to my SO, and flashes every light in the house for 5 minutes. While all of has nothing to do with this siren, I want everyone to know how sweet Smart Homes are becoming. Good like to get all of that magic with an off-the-shelf system from ADT / Comcast / Verizon / etc. etc.

(Update at the bottom) *Sigh* I wanted to love this product. It was the perfect application for my home and showed a lot of potential. I read a TON of reviews and decided that this was the correct unit for my purposes.Unfortunately, I can't get this thing to work correctly. I installed it on a SmartThings home Hub (1st Gen) and worked online to change the options. The App wouldn't let me edit the device, but I was able to manually do it on the website. Problem was, none of the changes (tone) actually worked and I am stuck with one sound - not 5 like it advertises. Not a huge deal breaker, and the siren is stinkin' loud, but I wanted all the features to work. I reached out to Aeon and the SmartThings community. The STComm got back to me and a Tech with ST told me that this was an odd problem and they'd get back to me.They didn't.I was bummed.****** FIrmware and several years has fixed this unit and now it works as advertised. 5 Stars.
