I have a floor-standing air compressor that uses a very cheap valve at the bottom to drain condensation water from the bottom of the tank. It is in an awkward place to reach, plus it didn't take long to lose its smoothness of operation, so that I needed to loosen and tighten it with a pair of pliers. The last time I went to drain the tank, the handle completely stripped from the valve so turning it did nothing. So I was quite pleased when I saw this 2-pack of Hooshing mini-inline ball valves on Amazon that were just the size I needed for my compressor!The Hooshing valves have a much more robust construction than the original, and I am confident that it will last a lot longer also. I installed a 90-degree angle connector in the original valve's receptacle, connected a length of threaded 1/2" pipe to the connector, and screwed the new valve on to the pipe. Now it's MUCH easier to reach the valve, plus there is room to place a bowl underneath the outlet to capture all that gross dirty water. The almost-completed product is shown in one of the photos I attached (sorry for the blurriness!) I just need to add a different 90 degree connector at the outlet as the one I have on there has too small an outlet so the flow is too forceful under pressure.The action on the valve is very smooth and only requires a quarter-turn to open or close back up. The box contained the two valves plus a spool of teflon tape for making the connections. I'll add the spool to my collection of teflon tape, but for this application I used pipe dope for its greater resistance to high pressure. I'm not sure what the valve's ball is made of: either stainless steel or some other chrome-plated metal (the ad doesn't say), but I hope that it's stainless for longer life! Either way, if it fails at some point I've got the second one waiting in the wings ready to replace it! These valves were just exactly what I needed!

Finally, a valve on Amazon that has a quarter turn stop for the off position. This is a 3/8th pipe thread valve. This will work great on my air lines for the compressor. The valves look to be a good quality and a solid feel when turning them on and off. You get two for about the price you would pay for one at the big box store.

I tested this ¼” ball valve at 80psi with compressed air. There is no leaking around the valve and valve stem. One of these valves will be used for low pressure propane at a maximum of 20psi. As the valve didn’t leak at 80psi during a 2 day period, it should be great.I did find that the new ¼” NPT threads screwed into this valve body required 5 or 6 wraps of yellow (gas) Teflon thread seal tape to seal the connections for the test. My normal 3 wraps had a slight leak.The butterfly handle is great for my needs as it provides plenty of torque to open and close the valve easily and eliminates the long handle found on so many ball valves.
