As hydrofoils go, I've never been able to observe a difference in performance regardless of price. This piece of plastic is twice the price of competing products, and twice as much as any other hydrofoil I have purchased. The fact that it requires drilling and bolting to the cavitation plate of an outboard means it won't detach like some clamp-on designs. There is no denying it is of heavy duty construction with very thick wings. It should be able to survive the inevitable contact with underwater objects. I'm mounting it on a 9.9 Yamaha long shaft kicker to reduce bow rise on a heavy boat when trolling.

We actually bought two hydrofoils to try out on our 1994 Evinrude 115 outboard on our 17' bass boat. The bow was rising up to high and slowing us down. They both performed about the same dropping the bow, increasing control, steering and speed. It was easy to install, mark the holes, drill them out, bolt it on. I just liked the way this one was built better, it is solid and I also think it looks better too. I am keeping this one on and for the money I couldn't be happier.

I can only speak to the durability and installation of the product, as I won't be on the water for a couple months. This fits my 1993 alpha mercruiser outdrive. The fin is sturdy enough to stand on. The fore holes require the removal of the rams to be drilled perpendicular to the surface.
