The cut would barely scratch the surface of the carbon steel we were trying to drill a hole in. Had plenty of lubrication but would not begin to cut.

This is a good quality large diameter bit for the money. Honestly I've been using the crap out of the thing and it still hasn't torn up and using it on very thick Steel. Perfect angle use it at slower speeds and you'll have best luck.
