My first order of this rack was damaged so I exchanged it. I then spent 3 hours on this project including looking at instruction videos created by other people. The box only included a one page description of parts with pics but there no actual directions. Had to figure out what screws went where. Some had springs which again there was no explanation on how they work or where they go. There were nuts that didn’t allow the screws to be completely tight. Finally I thought I had it figured out. One side of my bike (Specialized Hybrid) seemed secured with the side rail. When I tried the other side it didn’t line up despite multiple attempts. I changed the adjustable length feature in the rails and adjusted the height of the seat fastener which attaches to the rack. I tried to fit it as best as I could and the side rail piece finally broke. I then thought that maybe I could use the “wings” feature over my old cargo rack. That didn’t work which I knew was a long shot. Finally I just threw this in the trash. I consider myself pretty handy…have put together beds, wardrobes, chairs, etc and never had a problem. This was extremely frustrating since the reviews were strong.

When searching for a rack I was surprised to see that most did not have the adjustable wing feature. It was a must for me because it only makes perfect sense. Even though I haven't used it yet it seems very solid.

Bike rack. Is serviceable but not as sturdy as I hoped. The connection to the bike frame was not well thought out.Could be a better design. But I can live with it

This was a great buy from Amazon, however the elastic bungee cord is BIG TIME CHEAPO. It only lasted 1 day and the plastic hook snapped. I am using other bungee cords now. The rack is working exactly as I needed, providing sturdy support for an alto sax in the case.

The instructions are minimal, vague, and don't get into enough, or almost any, detail. For example, it doesn't tell you which pair of C clamps to use - the small or large ones as you must determine that based on your bike's frame diameter. It doesn't tell you where the two rubber shims go. It will also definitely help to have a second person to hold things in place to keep them where needed and to line up mating parts. It's not hard, but it needs much better instructions and photos, and a person helping would be a great idea. HINT - figure out how to properly get one side done (but not fully tight), then do the other side the same way, then have the your helper hold everything where it needs to be / where you want it, and then fully tighten everything while making sure that everything is level and straight / properly aligned. The included bungie cord will stay in place if you secure it from the bottom of each wing and wrap over the top of the assembly with both wings down.

This replaced the rack on my old bike that broke when the bike got knocked over. I was concerned because this is my bang-around bike and it is so old that whenever something goes wrong I can't get the part that fit or they're not set up to work with my frame or seat post. I used the old rack all the time because I never know where I'm going to end up and what I'm going to buy. A library book, a 6-pack, 20 lbs of charcoal.Assembly of this rack was quick and simple - attach the side rails with a couple of screws. The flexible front mount fit perfectly around my seat post, and I was able to attach the lower braces to the frame on my own and level out in a couple of minutes. What I like best is the design that lets it go from fold-down, non-existent, to basket, to wide platform that will hold a good sized box or couple of grocery bags. My only suggestion is to use your own tools. It's nice that they include one of those sheet metal versa-tool wrenches, but it's what it is.
