Fit is great, but when I ride the hem of the pants hit my right at the knee and cause me pain on long rides. I had to add fabric and make them longer

Even though I ordered up a size, way too small, and padded insert not in a good place for me.

If you are shopping around for pair of knickers from Pearl, chances are you are looking at the Sugar(Select Level) or Symphony(Elite Level). I suggest that you spend a little more and buy the symphony because they fit better and are made better. Of course everyone's body is different. For my wife, the Select level moved around a lot for her on the bike. She bought the same size in the Symphony and 1. They were more comfortable, better chamois, and 2. They didn't slip around while on the bike. For myself, I either buy elite of pro and have always been happy with the quality. This stuff usually last a few seasons, so it's worth it to be comfortable when doing long rides.

I am so pleased with these knickers! I had a pair of the Pearl Izumi sugar cycling knickers, and I always felt like the rise was too low. The symphony pants are perfect. The padding is just right, no weird gaps or awkward shape. I hope to wear them for a long time.

I am doing a two day bike ride the first weekend in Oct to raise money for Operation Second Chance. The ride will be on the C&O Canal and I need comfort!! I bought these and did a 76 mile bike ride last Sat. These knickers were great! I wear a size 10 and heard they run small so I bought the XL. They fit great and actually may be the most flattering bike pants I own.

I wanted these knickers over the 'sugar' knicker because the inseam is one inch longer, and from the descriptions online I thought they would be higher quality. I went to my local REI to try on the 'sugar' knicker so I could figure out what size I wear in Pearl Izumi, then I ordered these from Amazon. However, I am going to have to return these and exchange them for one size bigger. The material is thicker and a bit less stretchy, and perhaps they are just cut smaller than the 'sugar' knicker. The fabric seems more compression/performance oriented, which I like. I believe these will be the better knicker once I get the correct size.

Love them! I got size large, I am 5'6" and size 10 normally. I got these for mountain biking in Dallas. These are thick, very nice quality, almost compression like and very figure flattering. The padding is thick and comfy. I usually ride about 1.5 hours at a time, these are great. I will wear them in cooler weather until its gets so cold i need full leg pants, so far they have been great in 55F ish weather.

I bought these hoping that they would work for long rides in cool weather, but unfortunately they're not working for me. Very disappointed since they weren't cheap and other people gave them such stellar reviews. In terms of sizing, I went ahead and stuck with the sizing chart because I have been having problems with chafing, so I wanted to err on the side of too snug rather than too big. I'm 5'8" and wear a size 4 so I ordered a size small. They fit perfectly up top, although they're definitely snug, but they're supposed to be. The problem is that they're not long enough. They just barely made it under my knees, so the little sticky dots were rubbing on the back of my knees and were very uncomfortable. They might work better for a shorter person, but if you're a tall small like me, I'd avoid these. The second, and more problematic issue is the chamois. These have the Elite chamois which is Pearl Izumi's mid-range chamois - and I was really disappointed with the quality. It is a molded chamois, but the edge was cut very roughly, and the seaming is really sub-standard so the edge of the chamois isn't smooth at all. To make matters worse, the chamois ends at the molded padding (instead of having a smooth thin section extending beyond the molded part like a better chamois would.) This means that the areas which are most susceptible to chafing hit right at the rough edge of the chamois. I took them out for about 3-4 hours and ended up with BAD saddle sores - WAY worse than what I got wearing my much cheaper and too big Novara knickers. I tried using them for shorter rides (1 hour or so) and there was less chafing, but they still left me raw and uncomfortable. The seam is just in the wrong place, at least for my anatomy.Just about the only good thing I can say about these is that the little pocket in the back is handy for a handkerchief. But that's not much comfort since I can't wear them at all, and don't really think you can return an item like this once it's been worn - sort of like returning underwear.Bottom line - I should have gone to my LBS (local bike store) and tried them on instead of trying to buy them online. I'd highly recommend taking that approach unless you already know that this brand/style works for you.
