After DIYing my modularized off-grid solar system and getting everything set up and working to my satisfaction, I’m ready to get an electrician out to help me set up a way to switch my off-grid outdoor canning kitchen module automatically from solar power to grid power should the solar battery bank get too low to keep things running during a canning session. I think this is what I need, but because it involves grid power, I wouldn’t dare try to do it myself.From having worked with a number of different components while installing my off-grid setup (inverters, circuit breakers, battery banks, etc.), I can tell just by looking at this that it’s a well-made, solid piece of equipment. I can’t yet vouch for how well the transfer itself will work because it’s not installed yet. Hopefully, since it’s rated for computer equipment, it will switch fast enough so my burner won’t shut off if it has to switch sources of electricity mid-stream. I will let the electrician advise me if it would be better to install it inside or outside the house, but it’s rated for outdoor use and that’s how I would prefer that it be installed.

Mounted this IP68 beast outside my battery compartment. After 3 days of Florida downpour, opened it up – bone dry inside! The silicone seals and 304 stainless screws show zero rust. PC plastic case didn’t warp in 100°F heat. Even when my 15A generator spiked to 130V, it held steady. Ground bonding works perfectly – no tingles when touching the fridge!Still, runs sensitive electronics without hiccups!

When my shore power died at 2AM, this thing switched to inverter power in 0.03 seconds – my gaming laptop stayed online mid-raid! The four SPST relays eliminate that scary POP older switches make. 14AWG cables feel beefy, and the NEMA 5-15P plugs snapped right into my inverter/shore outlets. Peace of mind worth every cent!
