Your cart is empty.RIO's Mainstream Striper fly lines are made specifically for striped bass and cold water saltwater anglers. The line taper is quick-loading and easy casting, and is suited for a variety of fly sizes from large baitfish imitations to small crab patterns. The lines are intermediate density, sinking at 1.5 to 2 inches per second, are entirely clear for stealth while fishing, and also include a neat welded loop on the front end for fast rigging. Each Mainstream line is made in RIO's Idaho manufacturing facility.

This line absolutely terrible. Right out of the package it had a tacky feel to it, but I figured that was probably a residue that would wash off. I cleaned the line before spooling up but it still felt slightly tacky. On my first outing I was constantly frustrated with tangles and line twists. I did my best to untwist and stretch it, which bought me a few decent casts before knotting up again. Very poor shooting distance, probably due to the line being nowhere near slick. After spending a few outings thinking I was the problem, I bought a new line from another manufacturer and, lo and behold, all of the issues went away. I repurposed this line to secure a rubber net basket to my net frame, so at least it's not in a landfill.

I use RIO fly lines most of time and they have been great. These seem to be under weight for what is advertised. I have an 8wt fly rod but this did not work well on it, I returned the 8wt and purchased a 9wt , which works very good at loading the rod. I would suggest purchasing one weight higher than your rod.
