This gate closer works perfectly! It closes the gate smoothly and securely every time. Installation was simple, and the adjustable tension is a great feature. The build quality feels solid and durable. A must-have for keeping gates closed without slamming. Highly recommend!

Not sure why one would leave less than 5 stars. It does what it says, plus can be easily propped open for carrying in groceries by opening it to 90°. I didn’t realize it had that feature which is really nice. I have it set to where it closes extremely slowly so it doesn’t slam my gate which is exactly what I was looking for. This is a great price even if I have to replace occasionally due to rain (don’t get a lot of rain in Southern California where I live). I’d suggest using WD-40 after rain to avoid rust if that is a worry for you.

No problems with installation- instructions were clear and complete. The hydraulic mechanism worked exactly as I had wanted. So glad I found this! We live in a townhome with a metal gate and guests of our neighbors behind us would let the spring-mounted gate slam when they exited late at night, waking us up. Closes quietly now…problem solved!

The closer was well made and worked perfectly. It installed fairly easy and shut our aluminum gate with ease. I was very impressed until 8 months later when it completely stopped working. The ram which pulls the gate has zero tension and looks like a seal went bad. I believed a product at this price point would have lasted longer.

We went away for 2 months and came back to find it lying on the ground. It seemed it had rusted so when a worker came by and opened the door the whole thing just ripped out of the wood fence.Worked well ad a closer for the summer prior to that.Not sure if i was meant to maintain it better with serious lube or something.

This is a great gate closer and is easy to install. The instructions are easy to follow and I like that I can choose how fast it closes and how fast it latches at the end.I'm not a fan of slamming gates and doors and that is what the builder installed at my home. It was the typical spring loaded closer and it's fine if you don't mind the slamming. This gate closer fixed that issue for sure. However, the issue I do have with this closer is that it maxes as 90 degrees. That almost was a deal breaker for me but I ended up just dealing with it because I preferred the no-slam gate. If the manufacturer of this item would update the design on this closer and allow it to open to 120 degrees, this thing would be perfect!!! For now I'm giving it four stars. Once that is remedied I would for sure give it five stars. If you are ok with 90 degree opening on the gate, this will be perfect for you. Overall, I'm really happy with it and would for sure buy it again. The price is fair as well.

The Lockey USA Gate Closer is a fabulous product. Feels, looks and weighs-in heavy-duty and its functionality match its looks. Our aluminum side entry gates already had strong spring auto-closing (read: slamming) hinges and after weeks searching I have found slowwww-closing nirvana. These completely and micrometrically eliminate the every-day slamming of our doors by service personnel.Direct drilling and fastening onto the aluminum posts provided solid installation and the Lockey’s perform admirably. We installed two of the Lockey Gate Closers - one in each gate left and right openings. Including reading through the instructions (not the best) and the installation, the first Lockey took about 40 minutes for complete install — including the fine tuning of the pressure shock’s closing to match our spring hinges and actually lock the gate shut. The 2nd unit took 15 min to install, was a breeze.The very wide range of tweaking you can accomplish with the gas shock should satisfy any gate requirements whether they be very strong push to seal the gate shut or, if you don’t have a lock, a very slow and quite close to shut the gate very gently.The Good> Works fantastically and can be tweaked to virtually any required closing speed and force> Heavy-duty looks, feel and weight; Heavy-duty functionality> Very fast and easy installation provided you read the instructions to avoid unsightly hole drilling> At just over $40 each, they are a bargain. Even if corroding after 2 or 3 years (read below), I will replace with the same unitsThe Bad> Instructions are lacking with pictures that are almost undecipherable> Maybe - These units are entirely made in power-coated steel and we are directly by the ocean. Time will tell how they hold up
