As read in the title! Really different from my previous plastic reed I tried. This are a composite polymer using regular fiber in the mixture. The sound is as close as it can be as you best normal reed… it’s nothing close to plastic reed… even the best brand. It also can be adjusted as a regular reed )shape with a blade. Always ready to play, no need to be kept in high moisture environment and never dry

Player of over 30 years. I have played cane nearly all of my time up until the past year. Sure, in the past I experimented with synthetic reeds and found that I wasn’t a huge fan of them because they either sounded too buzzy even for jazz, or they were to tough to control pitch wise requiring way more attention than cane. I decided to give them a shot again and looked at the current generation. I have a small selection of most of the major brands in various strengths on Tenor of this newest round of synthetics by established brands as well as newcomers. When I got around to trying the Venn generation 2 reeds on Tenor, I was floored. They immediately sounded great and they were very easy to control. I had no issues adapting to playing them over the course of an afternoon. I immediately bought a total of 4 in to have a rotation in the strength that worked best for me. They run about a half size or more too strong. For example I might normally be around a 2.5, 2-hard even a 3 or 3 soft on some reed brands, I found a 2.0 in the Venn worked perfectly. I read up on this before I bought and it turned out I was wise to do so. I have now been playing these exclusively for about 6 months, same rotation, no sign of wearing out. I couldn’t be more happy with these.

After playing synthetic reeds for awhile, I settled with the Legere reeds in 2015. But I decided to try the VENN G2 this last go around. The tone and response of this reed was INCREDIBLE from the time I put it on my mouthpiece!! So I practiced on it everyday from Monday when I got it until it time for my gig on Sunday. When I played it on the gig with amplification, it was simply AMAZING!! But here comes the missing star out of the 4 stars. At week 2, the reed split on me! I was so disappointed! I wanna love this reed and give it that 4th star, but I need you guys at D'Addario to fix that issue. I will circle back around when there is a G3!

I've always used D'Addario stings on my guitars and thought a long lasting reed from them would be made better. A 2.5 is more like a 3.5 and it is not as durable as hoped. Like the company, not their reeds.

The reed was a lot harder than a cane reed.I really like Legere American Cut 2.0. Disclaimer…I haven’t played in a while and been back into it for about 4 months. I’m also using a Jody Jazz HR* 6.Probably should have stayed with the 5…

I have been a Woodwind Pro for over 40 years. During this time, I have tried practically every synthetic reed that has come down the pike. After playing on Legeres for about a year, I came across the Venn G2 reeds and was immediately impressed with how natural they feel and sound. But I have decided to stop using them on tenor and here is why. The last few tenors that I have bought started splitting within a couple of weeks of playing and at $32 a reed it is just not cost effective. I haven't noticed this problem on alto or clarinet but my main instrument is tenor.UPDATE: D'ADDARIO was gracious enough to send me replacements for the split reeds but one of them split after 3 gigs in 4 days and the other just lost it's life after about a week. I thought I really liked Venn Reeds but splitting after 3 gigs is just not cost effective. Going back to Legere.
