About this item

  • Powerful 200-Watt Capacity: Engineered for high-performance applications, this antenna supports a robust 200-watt power rating, ensuring exceptional signal strength and reliability for demanding communication needs. Perfect for both commercial and personal use, it delivers consistent performance.
  • Impressive 17-Foot Height and Heavy-Duty Construction: Standing at 17 feet tall, this antenna is built with a heavy-duty, 3-section fiberglass construction, designed to withstand extreme conditions with a maximum wind speed of 90 MPH. The special joint design ensures that each section maintains the same strength as a single-section antenna, providing long-lasting durability.
  • Wide Frequency Coverage and High Gain: Offering broad frequency coverage from 144 MHz to 148 MHz with a 4 MHz bandwidth and 8.3 dBd gain, and from 430 MHz to 450 MHz with a 20 MHz bandwidth and 11.7 dBd gain, this antenna provides excellent signal clarity and strength across multiple bands. The 5/8 wave 3-element and 8-element c-load designs with 20-1/2 in. radials optimize performance.
  • Durable and Weather-Resistant Design: The radiator and coil are hermetically sealed in fiberglass tubing, ensuring low SWR and reliable operation in all weather conditions. Additionally, the DC ground construction allows for effective static dissipation, reducing noise and providing maximum lightning protection.
  • Versatile Installation with Included Mounting Bracket: Featuring a UHF (SO-239) connector and a mast diameter acceptance of 1-3/16 in. to 2-7/16 in., this antenna is compatible with various mounting setups. It includes a mounting bracket with three stainless steel radials, facilitating secure and stable installation. The sleek white finish adds a clean look to your setup.

Choose Tram for your next antenna installation project with this Amateur Dual-Band Base Antenna. This 17 ft. antenna has 2 frequency ranges: 144MHz to 148MHz and 430MHz to 450MHz. Stay connected with Tram.

Didn't notice until set up on roof but the largest connector is glued on crooked. Looked like antenna was badly bent once I set it up and stood back to take a look. Took it down, no way to fix unless maybe melt glue out with torch and ruin fiberglass tubing!?Looked like bent almost 10° at an angle 1/3 the way up. Just pathetic.I ended up loosening the compression fitting off all the way and leaving it completely loose and just sealing off with lots of silicone to hold it in place. Sits just close enough to straight now. Seems like a cheap/rushed build.SWR 1.01 at 143.500mhz but 2.4 SWR around 430 to 460mhz so that was very disappointing as well.

I like the way it's ready to go out of the box, no adjustments needed. If it's properly sealed, properly installed, it should last awhile....

Antena altamente recomendable, creo que esta mejor que Hustler G7, excelente rendimiento y abarcando más de 80 kilómetros de comunicación

I got this in 2017, unfortunately a storm recently took it down.I read reviews before I put it up, so seams & connectors were all sprayed with flex seal type sealer. The entire 2 meter/ 70cm band SWR was flat at 1.1/1.2 with only 1.6 in the 160s connected to my 150 watt fire department radio.Connected to a handheld 5 watt (for comparison) I could work 2 meter repeaters my 65 watt mobile couldn’t. I know how high the antenna is makes a big difference also. It’s a great antenna

I purchased this antenna for my dedicated home station for my APRS station. My local fellow HAMS recommended this TRAM model. The antenna was easy to assemble and once installed yieled a nearly flat SWR profile across both the 2m and 70cm bands. My radio dedicated to APRS is on 7x24 and is seeing messages from stations much further away than I would have expected a 2m signal. I'm pleased with the ease of assembly and commissiong. I recommed this as a solution any dual band need of a fellow HAM radio operator.

One of my ham friends bought one of these and he bragged on it....so I thought I'd take a look since I was in the market for a new antenna. I read alot of bad reviews and they all had to do with the poor sealing at the joints, letting moisture in. Well, nothing's perfect...and any ham operator worth his salt should know how to take care of that. When it's put together, just tape up the joints with silicone tape or whatever kind of waterproofing you like. I used the self-fusing silicone tape around both joints and around the bottom where the fiberglass shaft meets the base. Just keep the moisture out and there will be no problems. As far as performance, I couldn't be happier. It works just fine and I have better coverage than I had with the previous antenna. This antenna is a clone of the Comet GP-9 at half the price. One note to other hams. If you're not going to put the effort into making the antenna (the most important part of your station) work, you should get another hobby. We're ham operators, that's what we do. We take less than perfect and make it work....and make it work right. I give it four stars on ease of assembly. because of the poor joint seals. Enjoy!

I had bought one a few years ago. This summer It took a lightening hit. After my insurance company settlement, I replaced the antenna this late fall. Before replacing I noted that the replacement antenna has space between the fiberglass and metal couplings. Like comments elsewhere about the antenna. I sprayed it with CLEAR FLEX-SEAL after assembly. I've attached pictures of the antenna after a Ice storm that left 1/4th of an inch of ice on the hood on my car which I park at the base of my tower. Also there is a picture of the coupling attached upper 2 sections. The lowest coupling failed. shearing at the threads. which were only 3-4 turns maybe 10tpi. You can also see where the fiberglass split causing the fiberglass to fall to the ground. only 30 feet away is a 1480 2 section antenna I use for my test bench which has survived 4-5 years. The day of the ice storm NWS reported icing, 30-32 degrees and 30 mph wind gusts. After the picture was taken with the broken coupling I found it would twist and pulled it off by hand. There was a layer of glue between the metal coupling and the fiberglass that was not bonded to either and I could chip it off with my finger nail. Final comment 1st antenna lasted 3+ years, newest one definitely poorer quality and lasted 3 months. During the 1st antenna's 3 year life it survived 3-4-5 ice storms and 65mph winds here in Kansas only to die by lightening. Replacement last Sunday is an antenna that ends in "9" heavier & stronger. Tram is not the quality of years gone by. I will not recommend it. However the 1480 2 section I will. as being shorter, it stresses joints less than the 3 section version.

I found this antenna after making many mistakes as a new Amateur Radio operator, buying inexpensive rg8, trying used 213 and LMR 400, buying Antennas with less gain, buying higher wattage radios. This allowed me to connect to repeaters 32- 70 miles away behind hills and mountains ⛰, allowed me to connect to my wires x node 25+ miles away in the mountains. DO NOT USE LESS THAN LMR-400 equivalent coax!!!! you bought this antenna for higher gain, don't lose it with higher loss cable your not saving any money by going with lesser. If your in a rural area with hills and mountains this is your ticket. I get full quieting on my FTM-100-DR, 8 watt Baofeng F8-HP and my FT-2DR at 5 watts yes I have my HT's plugged in them..... yes I like this antenna so much I bought 2. I can't compare to a Diamond or other brands but I can say this solved my problems after spending $800 trying to get reception on a Baofeng in a very rural mountainous area in Arizona. I was hoping for just 1 repeater I got 5!73 de K7AWW
