Very impressed with these. They're well made from what appears to be cast aluminum and are a good fit for a standard 4x4 post. They come with matching screws for permanent mounting but they're Phillips head and quite frankly I'd rather run through a bramble patch in a bikini than have to deal with Phillips head screws. These days I use Robertson or star drive for preference. Not enough of a problem to knock off a star though. They appear to be in the neighborhood of 2mm thick and do fit the posts quite snugly - I really don't think I even need to bother with the screws although I probably will just to complete the look. These will do well to protect the tops of the posts on my garden fence from rot.

I've purchased 4x4 post caps in the past that were made of out PVC. In time, they crack. These Heavy Duty Aluminium Pyramid Post Caps are made of very heavy gauge aluminum, are sturdy, hefty and I'm sure will last a lifetime. For the price, they are a GREAT deal.I'm a big fan.

These post caps are great quality. They are cast aluminum and powder coated -- not stamped out of a sheet of steel. They are robust and sized perfectly to fit standard, dimensional 4x4 posts. I have these on treated 4x4's that support the fence around our lot. I've had cedar caps installed in the past but they weather and crack over a very short period and quickly start to look terrible. Worse, they allow water to soak down the posts, which causes premature rot and damage. Installing these caps eliminates the problem. These post caps install easily and fit perfectly. They are made to last and won't rust. They're also very attractive. The design is excellent for any style of home. An awesome solution to prolong the life of your posts and can be reused over and over.I wholeheartedly recommend these caps. Great seller, outstanding product, and fast shipping.

Good quality metal post end caps, with a nice, consistent paint (powdercoat?) finish. I like how tightly they fit a 3.5X3.5 post cap. They came with color matched set screws to be sure they stay on, but the fit on our 4-year-old posts was night and tight.NOTE- these fit really well on square posts, but we had one that was actually 2 2X4s at the top. This did not fit over the pair of 2X4s But the product description makes it clear that it probably won't, and it turns out that they're right!

These post caps promise extra high quality and I was happy to find that there was something behind that. Though a really simple molded aluminum part, the metal is thick enough to be very rigid and I would expect them to last a lifetime. The finish feels like a sort of powder coating, and matches the caps in quality feel. I won’t be able to speak to the durability or colorfastness of them for a few years, but zero indications that it won’t hold up as well. The matching black flathead screws fit in a way that makes them really minimally visible, a nice touch. And they included extras, which I especially appreciated when I dropped one into the weeds with no hope of recovering it.I’m taking one star off for something that might not be an issue for you at all - they are very snug (a plus), but so snug that two of my six wouldn’t go onto a standard pressure treated post without modifying the post. That speaks to the variability of my posts since they fit fine on the other four, but I raise it because you might encounter the same thing. I had to chisel about 1/32” - 1/16” off two sides of those posts from the top to about 3/4” down to get them to go on at all, which is not hard if you are handy at all with chisels but not everyone will be. (No amount of pounding with my rubber mallet would get them to go on - but again, since they were so robust, they took the pounding with no sign of damage.)I would recommend these with that sizing caveat, and say that if you havent purchased your posts yet, you’d probably be safe to buy these ahead of time, and just check fit at the lumber yard to be sure you don’t get any posts that are just a hair too big for them. But for existing old posts, you might need to be a little handy, based on my experience. I do feel good knowing that those post ends are not going to take any more moisture on, because these work super well to hold out water. There are cheaper post caps out there, but I’d say these are a one-time purchase that are worth the cost because they are going to last longer than your posts, and much longer than plastic ones that will degrade under sunlight or thin gauge metal ones that will take damage when struck.

I build raised beds using pressure treated 4x4 posts and metal. I have found that plastic caps cracked and failed after a short time. Those were replaced with metal post caps that were stamped from thin sheet metal and included a single hole in the center to nail the cap onto the post. While these were an improvement over the plastic caps, they still allowed water to enter, and relied upon a single fastener driven into the end-grain of the post, and were easily damaged. These Toscoco Aluminum Pyramidal Post Caps are a vast improvement over typical “big box” post caps. They are black powder-coated cast aluminum making them rigid, solid, and durable. There are two holes in the skirt of the pyramidal shaped cap with a chamfer to allow the supplied flat head wood screws to sit flush with the surface when seated. The placement of the holes means that the fastener is not driven into end grain, which has very little holding power, but into the side of the wooden post to hold securely.Overall, I am very pleased with these aluminum post caps. They are well made and attractive, prevent water from penetrating the end grain, and I expect them to outlast the post to which they are attached.
